We have received the below letter from the manager of the Waitrose store on King’s Road. They have announced that the store will be closing for approximately 7 weeks starting on 31 December until 25th February. Further details can be found in his letter.
As this may impact many residents we wanted to share it with you well in advance. If anyone needs assistance with grocery shopping during this period of closure, please get in touch with the SSDRA either by email or via the form on the home page of the website.

I hope you and your family are keeping well in these challenging times.
As Branch Manager of Waitrose King’s Road, I wanted to let you know about some changes we are putting in place over the coming months.
You may be aware of works being undertaken by Cadogan at 196-222 King’s Road, Chelsea, to improve this stretch of the King’s Road with an enhanced Curzon cinema, large pub, new flagship and community retail space, rental homes, and a rooftop bar. At a time when high streets are challenged, development and forward thinking are essential to ensure that we are working together to best serve the area.
As part of the wider area improvement, we will temporarily close our King’s Road store for seven weeks, from 31st December, reopening on 25th February – and are taking the opportunity to invest and upgrade our store.
We appreciate this may cause some inconvenience for our customers during this time, but I’d like to reassure you that they’ll still be able to visit our other nearby shops – on Old Brompton Road (0.9 miles away), Knightsbridge (1.1 miles away), Gloucester Road (1.1 miles away), Belgravia (1.3 miles away) and Fulham (1.7 miles away) – or order Waitrose groceries via Waitrose.com, Waitrose Rapid or Deliveroo.
When the store reopens on 25th February, it will be a smaller format initially while construction works continue, before returning to its original size in the summer of 2022, with an exciting new look and feel.
I hope this provides useful information on the future of Waitrose King’s Road and our plans to invest in refurbishing the shop in the longer term. We are still working through the details, but please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you would like any further information.
