2008 – after concerted opposition from residents and the Residents’ Association, the hospital withdrew its planning application to build a large research centre in what is now the car park in Stewart’s Grove. The proposed height, bulk and design were completely out-of keeping with the conservation area and the surrounding residential properties.

2007 – Two new operating theatres were built on the east side of the hospital in what had previously been a car park. They are very close to the rear of the houses at the top of Stewart’s Grove. We supported residents during the planning process to try to minimise the impact of the new building on the adjacent houses.
