2018 Update

Cale Street & Ixworth Place
The Affinity Sutton Housing Association that owns this large estate proposed in 2011 to demolish much of it and rebuild it in a different configuration containing a mix of flats for private sale and social housing. The only existing buildings to be retained are those that have commercial premises on the ground floor at Chelsea Green and in Elystan Street. Designs for the scheme have still not been agreed with the Council and it is unlikely that work will begin in the immediate future.

In 2014 Affinity Sutton published the results of their first round of consultation, indicating support for the affordable housing. A proposal, including 243 separate planning documents, was published for the re-development of the Estate.
We circulated the flyer for the public meetings which were part of the second round of consultation held in early 2015 on their proposals.
In December 2018 the Secretary of State rejected the revised plans which had been submitted by Clarion for the Sutton Estate. It is expected that Clarion will continue to press to re-develop the site; however, RBKC is proposing that the buildings should be included in our conservation area.
