The AGM was called to order by the President at 1830. The President, Brian Leathard welcomed members, guests and residents.
Minutes of 2012 AGM: The Chairman, (SS), asked for the minutes of the 2012 AGM to be agreed. The motion was approved.
To receive the Chairman’s report: Susan Spiller, Chairman, delivered her annual report to the meeting. Her main points were regarding 5 major, local planning issues.
- The Royal Brompton Hospital (a guest from the Royal Brompton was at the AGM)
- The Cadogan Estate’s proposal to redevelop the Habitat, Curzon site
- The old Post Office Sorting area in Chelsea Manor Street
- Crossrail 2
- The Sutton Estate, (guest speakers at the AGM were representing Affinity Sutton, the owners of the Estate)
The Chairman also requested members’ email addresses to improve communication
To confirm the Accounts for 2012/2013 and receive the Treasurer’s Report: KTS, Treasurer, presented the Treasurer’s Report and Accounts for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2013 and thanked Heather Gumbrell for auditing them. The Treasurer confirmed that the balances in the SSDRA accounts amounted to £6,000
To re-appoint the Committee: The Committee was re-appointed and members were invited to join.
Update From Inspector Haig (Metropolitan Police): Inspector Haig outlined his role of local Inspector for the 6 wards in the south of the borough. Crime figures continued to fall. The biggest problem was vehicle crime; the victims were usually visitors to the borough. The local policing model has resulted in a rise in the staffing levels of active officers. A Q & A session followed during which it was mentioned that the Chelsea Police Station may close within 2 years.
Guest Speakers from Affinity Sutton: Kerry Kyriacou, Group Director of New Business & Development; Rachel Underwood, Project Director; Lisa Louis, Head of External Communications. KK outlined the purpose of Housing Associations, the reason for the redevelopment of the Sutton Estate, and the origins and evolution of Affinity Sutton following the legacy of William Sutton 100 years ago. There followed a lively Q & A discussion; members and residents participated. The discussion was closed down after intervention by SS/KTS.
The AGM was formally brought to a close by the Chairman and she thanked the guest speakers
